This page explains what information Guard Source HQ (guardsourcehq.com) collects when you visit, and what I do with it. It only lists what the site actually does.
The short version
- The site doesn’t run ads, Google Analytics or any other visitor tracking.
- The site doesn’t set any cookies of its own.
- If you use the contact form, your message is emailed to me. It isn’t saved on the website.
- Security, error and backup tools keep a small amount of technical information, explained below.
- I don’t sell your information or share it with advertisers.
If you contact me
The form on the Contact page asks for your name, your email address, a topic and your message. When you send it, it comes to me as an email. The form doesn’t keep a copy on the website.
The email is sent through my web host’s mail server (Hostinger). It’s set up so that when I hit reply, the reply goes to the email address you entered.
You can also email me directly at contact@guardsourcehq.com.
I use what you send only to answer you. Your message stays in my email, not on the website.
The form has a built-in spam check. It doesn’t use a CAPTCHA or any outside spam service.
Security logging
The site uses a security plugin called Wordfence to block attacks. It records security-related activity, like login attempts and requests its firewall blocks, along with the IP address they came from. It isn’t set to log ordinary page visits.
Wordfence also takes part in the Wordfence Security Network, which means information about attacks, such as the IP address of an attacker, is shared with Wordfence’s maker so other sites can be protected too.
Broken-link log
When someone asks for a page address on this site that doesn’t exist, the site’s SEO plugin (Rank Math) logs the address that was asked for, how many times it was asked for, and when. It doesn’t record who asked. It keeps up to 100 of these entries. I use it to find and fix broken links.
Backups
A backup plugin (UpdraftPlus) makes a copy of the site’s files and database every two weeks and stores it in my Dropbox account. The 12 most recent backups are kept. A backup holds the same information described on this page, such as the security and broken-link logs. It doesn’t hold contact form messages, because those aren’t saved on the site.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Hostinger.
Google Search Console
I use Google Search Console to see how the site shows up in Google search results, such as which searches lead to it. It doesn’t add any script or cookie to this site.
Links to other sites
Some guides link to outside reference sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and I don’t control what they collect.
Keyword research tool (Google Ads API)
I use the Google Ads API for my own keyword research, through a small program on my own computer. It only reads keyword ideas, search volumes and forecasts from Google’s Keyword Planner. It isn’t part of this website and doesn’t touch any information about visitors. It doesn’t save the results and doesn’t change anything in a Google Ads account. Guard Source HQ’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you’ve contacted me and want your message deleted, email me at contact@guardsourcehq.com and I’ll delete it.
This site isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this page
If what the site does changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
